It is well known that Zerka Arms makes the most powerful blasters in the galaxy, but most would be surprised to learn that we owe the technology to a lightsaber.
Nek'tar gas is the patented biogenic fluid used in armor-piercing Zerka Arms blasters developed by Dr. Hammond, a force sensitive Bio-Engineer who became the President of Zerka Biotech after discovering the secret to Nek'tar production. The DNA needed to synthesize this highly volatile substance comes from a dangerous creature called a Dagu'tar Broodmother, which are only found in the labyrinthine caverns of Xeocarro. The Broodmother is surrounded by her drones, making it impossible to reach her without the use of the force to calm their minds.
The call sign of "Mantis" was bestowed upon Doctor Hammond for his unique ability to move stealthily and undetected for days on end through one of the most hostile environments in the galaxy.
His sidearm of choice was a Zerka Genetic Sampler that he had converted into a lightsaber. Armed with only this, he achieved the impossible and is the only living soul in galactic history to sample the DNA of a living Dagu'tar Broodmother. The use of a Genetic Sampler seems like an odd choice for a saber hilt, but in retrospect it makes perfect sense. It is sleek and symmetrical and offers a very dextrous grip. A choke point exists organically below the sampling spades, and the blade emitter depth seems purpose-built for an energy blade.
In commemoration of the 200th Anniversary of Doctor Hammond's achievement, Zerka Arms is proud to offer the ZE-08f, a perfect replica of his sidearm. Like the original, it is fully ready for combat and will light your way through the darkest night.
